Social Theories of Muslim Thinkers is a peer-reviewed, open-access quarterly journal published by the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Tehran. The journal serves as a forum for original and critical inquiries, scholarly debates, and applied research on the social thought and theories of Muslim sociologists and thinkers. We welcome original submissions from researchers across the humanities and social sciences (e.g., sociology, political science, history, economics, and philosophy) that fall within at least one of the following thematic scopes:

  • Introducing and reinterpreting the social ideas and theories of Muslim thinkers, encompassing prominent classical figures of Islamic civilization as well as contemporary scholars from Iran and the broader Muslim world;
  • Investigating the intellectual traditions and historical-civilizational contexts shaping Muslim social thought;
  • Offering critical reflections on the philosophical foundations of modern humanities and social sciences, and their relationship with religion;
  • Exploring indigenous approaches and theoretical frameworks for reconstructing the social sciences grounded in Islamic intellectual heritage, alongside critical evaluations of contemporary efforts to reform the social sciences across the Muslim world.
