The Journal of Social Theories of Muslim Thinkers is committed to upholding the principles of research ethics. To protect intellectual property rights, the journal strictly condemns all forms of plagiarism and research misconduct. Originality and transparent citation are the cornerstones of our submission policy. Authors are required to acknowledge all ideas, data, and content derived from other works as a scientific trust, ensuring precise citation and adherence to rigorous referencing standards.

Definition of Research Misconduct (Plagiarism)

In this journal, plagiarism is defined as the unauthorized use of any ideas, text, structure, diagrams, images, or findings belonging to other researchers without explicit and accurate citation. Instances of such misconduct include, but are not limited to:

• Attributing works, theories, or ideas belonging to others to oneself;
• Utilizing words or sentence structures from a source without proper citation (even if the wording is slightly modified);
• Providing incorrect or fabricated citations;
• Extensive replication of content from a source that undermines the originality of the new manuscript;
• Using images, charts, tables, or figures belonging to others without obtaining written permission and providing appropriate credit.

Originality Check (Similarity Detection)

To ensure scientific integrity, all submitted manuscripts undergo a screening process via a “Similarity Detection System” (Samim Noor) prior to the peer-review process. The journal’s policy regarding detected similarity is as follows:

1. Minor Similarity: In cases where the similarity percentage is low, the manuscript will be returned to the author for revision. The author is required to rewrite the content and include precise citations. The revised manuscript will then be subject to closer scrutiny by the Editorial Board.
2. High Structural Similarity: In cases where significant content similarity is detected, indicating a lack of originality, the manuscript will be “Rejected” without entering the peer-review process, and no option for revision will be provided.

Note: Discovery of plagiarism after publication will lead to disciplinary actions in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Such actions may include formal corrections, public expressions of concern, or the total retraction of the article from the journal’s database.

Strategic Recommendations for Authors

To prevent any disputes regarding the originality of their work, authors are required to:

• Maintain honesty in citations and provide complete bibliographic information for all sources;
• Ensure full consistency between in-text citations and the final list of references;
• Mandatorily use quotation marks (“…”) for any direct quotation exceeding six consecutive words from the original source;
• Obtain official permission from publishers or original authors for the use of copyrighted content prior to submitting the manuscript.
