About Journal

The journal of Social Theories of Muslim Thinkers is a quarterly, open-access journal (to article full text) published by the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Tehran. The journal addresses the ideas and discussions of experts in the field of the social thought of Muslim thinkers. Accordingly, scholars in various fields of the humanities, including sociology, politics, history, economics, and the like, may submit manuscripts to the journal’s system if they are at least related to one of the following areas:

  • Introducing and reinterpreting the social ideas and theories of Muslim thinkers, including the major thinkers of Islamic civilization as well as contemporary thinkers and scholars of the Islamic world and Iran

  • Research on the intellectual traditions and the historical-civilizational contexts of the social thought of Muslims

  • Presenting a critical discussion on the nature of modern “humanities” and determining its relationship with religion

  • Proposing new ideas for rebuilding the “social sciences” based on Islamic intellectual sources and the views of Muslim thinkers, and reflecting on efforts undertaken in recent decades to restructure the humanities and social sciences in the Islamic world

This journal follows the principles and standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in reviewing and publishing scholarly articles. All submitted manuscripts are checked by the Samim Noor similarity-detection software to ensure their originality and are then carefully evaluated by reputable and experienced reviewers. In this journal, research articles in the journal’s thematic areas will be considered.

Financial Policies

Article Processing Charges

The article processing and publication fee is 16.000.000 IRR which will be collected from authors through the University of Tehran’s dedicated online portal after approval by the journal office.

Subscription Fee

The journal Social Theories of Muslim Thinkers is published as an electronic open-access journal; therefore, there is no subscription fee for readers.


Open Access and Copyright Policies

The journal of Social Theories of Muslim Thinkers is an open-access quarterly journal, which means that access to all articles in this journal is free and open, and articles will be available immediately after publication on the journal website. All articles in this journal are published under the terms and conditions of the Creative Commons Attribution License 4.0 International (CC-BY 4.0), and license holders may copy, distribute, display, and create derivative works only by citing the original published article.
