Abstract

One of the basic issues of human life is the issue of the meaning of life. This issue has devoted a relatively independent study area since the past few decades. The said issue can be examined from different aspects, the construction of the meaning of life or the objectification of it beyond the individual and social construction, is one of the important issues that has formed different views among scholars; Does a person construct a meaning for life or is the world full of meaning and it is enough for a person to coordinate his life with it to have a meaningful life. This article compares the views of Peter Berger and Allameh Jafari in this regard. This research was done with a kind of hermeneutic method inspired by John Plamenatz. What is achieved from this research is that despite the fact that Peter Berger and Allameh Jafari have many similarities in meaning analysis of life and the central role they give to religion in giving meaning to life; But they have a different viewpoint on the meaning of life due to its construction and discovery. Berger considers the meaning of life as a social construct, and in contrast to Allameh Jafari, he considers meaning as an objective matter that humans can absorb by being coordinated with existence.
