Since ancient times, human beings have sought to envision and realize an ideal society in which justice, spirituality, freedom, and prosperity prevail. Islamic thinkers, unlike some Western thinkers, do not regard utopia as a purely imaginary matter; rather, they consider it attainable. Abdolhossein San‘atizadeh Kermani can be considered one of the first utopian writers in Iran. Examining utopia from his perspective acquaints us with the efforts of an Iranian thinker to establish a relationship between tradition and modernity. This study, exploring the ideas of Abdolhossein San‘atizadeh Kermani, seeks to provide a comprehensive interpretation of utopia within the framework of Iranian-Islamic culture, in order to show that literature, like philosophy and religion, can serve as an appropriate ground for reconstructing civilizational horizons. To explain utopia from his viewpoint, methods of narrative analysis, thematic reading, Spriggans' theoretical model, and the software Maxqda have been employed. Based on the conducted examinations and the analysis of three prominent works of Abdolhossein San‘atizadeh Kermani -Majma-e Divanegan, Rostam in the 22nd Century, and Ruzegari ke Gozasht- it can be concluded that utopia, in the view of this Iranian constitutionalist intellectual, is a society in which the five fundamental pillars of rationality, justice, freedom, nature, and education function synergistically alongside each other to provide the foundation for both material and spiritual human development.

As an ideal and conceptual image of the city, the utopia of any society reflects its underlying ideas, values, and aspirations—elements that evolve over time in response to social, cultural, and economic transformations. Although utopian images differ in form and scale, they consistently correspond to an idealized conception of the city. From ancient periods through the Islamic civilization, this concept has been articulated in diverse forms by Iranian thinkers and scholars. In the contemporary context, redefining and applying utopia as a practical model for urban design has become increasingly significant. This study examines the concept of utopia within Iranian–Islamic civilization, with particular emphasis on the intellectual framework of Hakim Abolqasem Ferdowsi Tousi. Its primary objective is to analyze and develop a conceptual framework based on Ferdowsi’s vision of utopia and to explore its implications for Iranian–Islamic urban planning. Using qualitative content analysis, utopian concepts embedded in the narratives of Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh are systematically examined. Subsequently, the interrelations among these concepts within the broader framework of Iranian–Islamic utopia are investigated through a narrative review approach. The findings indicate that the Iranian–Islamic utopia, understood as a concept transcending time and place, emphasizes wisdom and knowledge and offers an enduring ideal model for contemporary cities confronting present-day challenges.

The purpose of this article is to investigate the role and influence of wisdom, thinking-centeredness, and rationality in the design of utopia according to Farabi's theory as one of the main underlying factors in designing utopia (in moral dimensions). In addition, the character of the influence of rationalism on the ethics of societies, which has been investigated in Farabi’s moral legacy, is analyzed. The article uses an analytical-rational methodology that employs various conceptual, propositional, and system analyses. Farabi has described society as a structure or system and an ordered set, and his discussions refer to a collective order comparable to that of the cosmos. Accordingly, to create a more ideal society, some thinkers have argued that reason and logic are the most important factors, not only for individuals and their moral values, but for the entire system as a whole. This is reflected in the qualities of the Utopian leader (who possesses the maximum level of rationality) and the citizens’ morality. In order to attain their ideal state and become the epitome of virtue, citizens must use their intellect (nous) to make consistent and long-lasting judgments and evaluations. The intellectual virtues that result from practical reason are intended for both citizens and their domestic and public affairs, and both individual and social happiness depend on wisdom. However, reason and rationality are not the only factors that contribute to the health and contentment of citizens and society, but they are the most crucial ones that generate additional elements.

The pursuit and realization of an ideal society and cultivating human wellbeing has been one of the main goals of the leaders and thinkers in human societies from the past to the present day. The history of mankind is the proof that the thought of achieving individual and collective prosperity and the formation of a flawless society have been the major concerns for thinkers and leaders of human societies. The realization of a good society is sometimes called a righteous society, a clean life, a perfect community, utopia, an adorable society, an advanced and pious society, and a creative society, a correlated, coherent and organic system. To accomplish this goal, this paper attempts to answer these questions1. What is a good society in contemporary intellectual systems and how is it defined?2. What is the model and pattern of a good society based on the text of the Quran? The study is conducted within the framework of the qualitative method of meta-synthesis using the seven-step technique of Sandlowski and Barroso. Meta-synthesis is a method in which the qualitative studies are combined together, their similarities and differences are compared, their findings are translated into each other and a new interpretation of their sets is obtained. This interpretation can lead to a more comprehensive explanation of the phenomenon under study, or create new theories in explaining the phenomenon examined.

Today, given the development of complex urban problems, the necessity of paying attention to solutions related to Iranian-Islamic cities, in accordance with the cultural, social, political and physical context, seems evident. Meanwhile, studying Muslim thinkers' thoughts can be of importance in finding solution to the complexities of the cities. Abu Ali Sina, as a great Muslim scholar, has contributed to the development of urban thoughts considerably. In particular, his concept of Medina of Adela (the city of justice) is innovatory in the realm of theories of urban planning and urban development. The present paper aims to explore Abu Ali Sina's views on urbanization, identifying the characteristics of a desirable city, unfolding dimensions of social life in the urban environment, as well as explaining socio-economic, political, and physical relations in an urban society. The research method in this study is a combination of content analysis, deductive-descriptive methods, as well as causal analysis and meta-analysis. Our findings show that the existence of a healthy urban community requires attention to all aspects of social, economic, political and physical relations, so that these subsystems can be related to each other as a whole and each part affect the other ones systematically.

The present paper is an attempt to address social problem based on the viewpoints of Muslim thinker Mohamad Bagher Sadr. In order to achieve this aim, the researcher categorizes and describes Shahid Mohammad Bagher Sadr’s social views and analyzes the essence of social problem and its consequences and solutions mentioned in his works. The method applied in the study is documentary research, using qualitative content analysis technique. The results of the study indicate that there are large differences between the definition of social problem by Shahid Sadr and ideas concerning social problems proposed in sociology texts. According to Shahid Sadr’s, social problem is finding the most proper social system and it is an issue beyond limitations of time and space in which all humankind is involved.
